KUCHING: Rotary Club of Kuching Central undertakes to provide clean portable water to improve health and sanitation, basic solar power to illuminate dwellings, rebuilding communal hall in small communities and sourcing funds to carry out screening to prevent blindness operation.
Incoming Rotary Club President Ng Yaw Hua said this during his speech in conjunction with the 30th Installation Dinner held at Riverside Majestic Hotel last Saturday night.
“We will also seek to partner other ships that sail further afield to extend our reach to assist those less fortunate in distant land.
“We also want to thank especially Rotary Club of Singapore, Rotary Club Bandung and Rotary Club Bandar Seri Begawan for continuing to give us opportunities to join their project,” Ng added.
Ng said aboard this ship were six crew members who had donated generously by becoming Major Donor. They were those that contributed at least US$ 10,000 to Rotary Foundation.
Ng said they would strive to maintain their proud record of every member contributing to and averaging at least US$100 per member to Rotary Foundation every year, over the next 12 months.
“We may bid farewell to some crew members. However we aim to increase our complement crew by 20% from current 41 in line with District membership master plan.
“This will include plans to take on board our very first female crew members to provide diversity to our membership base,” Ng pointed out.
