The final project of the Rotary year saw 68 patients undergo their cataract operations at the Serian Hospital over the weekend of 28-29 June 2024. Members were on-hand early in the morning to deliver the food parcels for each patient to bring home after their successful operation in the hopes of easing their recovery process. Our sincerest thanks to PP Frankie Ong and Borneo Biscuits Factory for the 68 food parcels, as well as the 22 goodie bags for the medical team on duty over the weekend.
This outing brings it to a total of 457 cataract patients who benefited from our Gift of Sight project in 2023-2024. All lenses and relevant peripherals for the surgeries were provided free of charge to the patients from the funds RCKC raised previously as well as part of the continued collaboration between the club and LDS Foundation. Thank you to the Ophthalmology department at Sarawak General Hospital and all who have generously supported our prevention of blindness efforts over the years.
