President Roland led a small contingent of members to attend Uniqlo Malaysia’s ‘The Heart of LifeWear’ initiative where 15,034 pieces of clothing were donated to underprivileged communities, which includes refugees, women affected by domestic violence, and B40 families. The Rotary Club of Kuching Central was one of their project partners for this initiative, where the Airism clothing items were donated to critically ill children under SOS Kids, along with daily necessities and Christmas wishlist items for them and their families.
Besides updating on the SOS Kids project, President Roland also shared about the club’s fruitful experience of working with Uniqlo over the last 8 years on several meaningful projects for several kampungs outside Kuching, fire victims, as well as the urban poor. This partnership has opened the club members’ eyes to the power of clothing, and how it can ease the burdens of the beneficiaries in times of financial stress, provide a sense of dignity, and bring confidence and comfort to those in need.
